ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the state’s leading certifier of green projects, will be featured at this year’s Southeast Building Conference beginning Thursday at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary of being the original regional trade show, the Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) - Aug. 16-17, 2018 in Kissimmee, Fla. - continues to be the place to grow the building industry.

With a mission of education, verified third-party certifications and community outreach and advocacy since being founded in 2000, FGBC is by far the largest certifier of green homes, residential communities, high-rises, local governments and commercial buildings in the state with over 17,400.
· For the second consecutive year a “Florida Green” section of exhibits and booths will be featured in the Expo Hall. Owens Corning, the Florida Department of Health, Seacoast Bank, Gator Mat, Norbord, Delta Products Corporation, the Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association, the Florida Solar Energy Center and Mitsubishi Electric have joined FGBC in the section this year. · FGBC is offering two continuing education classes during SEBC. Both are being taught by Dr. Jennifer Languell, Thur., Aug. 16. Building Green with Sustainable Profits, 9:05 – 10:05 a.m., presents the building science of integrated whole-house systems along with five key elements that represent green building construction practices. Focus will be on fitting green building practices. Guiding Principles of Energy Efficient Homes, 10:10-11:10 a.m., explains energy design considerations for very high-performance homes, including reducing whole house energy demand, heating and cooling energy demand, special mechanical system considerations, mechanical and ventilation system options, critical envelope details, solar water heating, and photovoltaic design.
· Again, this year the Florida Green Building Coalition, the Florida Solar Energy Center and Seacoast Bank are hosting an SEBC “Florida Green” Networking Reception from 5-7 p.m. Thur. Unlike other national and international certifications, FGBC are only standards developed with Florida-specific criteria. They address Florida’s hot-humid climate, environment, unique topography and natural disasters.
FGBC’s five certifications provide pathways to build green homes, developments, local governments, high rises and commercial buildings. The process, including low fees, is often more affordable than other certifications. The free market aspect of FGBC certifiers also keep costs reasonable.
