St. Johns Housing Partnership Receives $550,000 Grant from The Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida

AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP), a nonprofit developer of affordable housing, today announced the receipt of a $550,000 grant from the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida. The Legacy 2024 grant to St. Johns Housing Partnership, Inc., is to support the retirement of outstanding construction debt for Patriot Place. Patriot Place comprises six new, low-income housing for at-risk and homeless veterans in St. Johns County. “Mrs. Weaver’s grant is an incredible gift that will last for decades providing housing for some of our local at-risk and low-income veterans. KW RED Day Volunteers Converge on Southern Villas

ST. AUGUSTINE - RED Day is Keller Williams Atlantic Partners’ annual day of giving back. This year the local Realtor had a day of service at Southern Villas. The non-profit St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP) owns Southern Villas, a USDA subsidized multifamily property in St. Augustine for the elderly and handicapped.  Every second Thursday of May, KW agents, leaders, and associates step away from their daily business routine and venture out into their communities to renew, energize and volunteer. "Our associates and staff are proud to give back by supporting the vital work of the St. Johns Housing Partnership. RED Day is just one example of how the Keller Williams culture lives and breathes service year-round," said Trudy Padilla of Keller Williams Atlantic Partners. ST. AUGUSTINE – Meet Claudia Marcus. She’s a fixer of sorts. After one and a half years volunteering with the St. Johns Council on Aging (COA), a partnership between COA and the St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP) has Marcus on the property at Southern Villas as Services Coordinator . But her work goes much deeper than that, benefiting residents at the affordable housing community in numerous ways. “It must be an open door. We have numerous scheduled activities and events, but the crux of my work is to help residents navigate a variety of issues ranging from technology to Medicaid, to transportation, to applying for food stamps or learning how to prevent scams,” Marcus said. Creekside High Engineering Club Preparing Future Industry Leaders; Cultivating a Culture of Service

ST. AUGUSTINE- Kevin Davenport and the Creekside High Engineering Club are regular volunteers with the St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP). Building ramps and helping rehab homes for the elderly, Veterans and disabled is just part of their story. “Kevin is one of our biggest supporters. He has responded when a call goes out to help us fulfill our mission. He organizes and brings the Engineering Club members out in force to really make a difference in our community,” noted SJHP Executive Director Bill Lazar. Davenport has been organizing volunteer teams of students wearing shirts that say “Live Generously” to work on SJHP projects for 14 years. “The volunteer experience not only offers students firsthand experience, but also instills a culture of service that stays with many of them throughout their personal and professional lives,” noted Davenport, a teacher at Creekside in the Engineering and Environmental Science Academy.
