AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. - The Northeast Florida Builders Association announced the winners of its 2018 Parade of Homes and Generation Homes was recognized by parade goers and industry professionals as one of the First Coast’s premiere custom home builders for craftsmanship, design, and attention to detail. The spectacular Sea Shell model home at 62 Oceanview Dr. in Sea View took top honors. The Sea Shell is a two story cottage and is located just a few minutes walk to the beach. FGBC: Builders Respond to Growing Interest in ‘Florida Green’

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Ongoing research by National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and its partners shows that many home buyers are interested in green, sustainable and high-performance building practices. NAHB’s report, Housing Preferences of the Boomer Generation: How They Compare to Other Home Buyers, asked home buyers across four generations – millennials, Gen Xers, baby boomers and seniors – what features they consider essential/desirable in a new home. Energy-efficient strategies, including ENERGY STAR appliances and windows and above-code insulation made the most-wanted list and would positively influence the purchase decision of 80 percent or more of all home buyers. Water-efficient features were also cited as essential/desirable by 72 percent of respondents. LAS  VEGAS - Ralph Bivins of Realty News Report was named the winner of the Gold Award for Best Real Estate Column in the 68th Annual Journalism Awards presented by the National Association of Real Estate Editors. Bivins' winning column - entitled: "Space City's Astrodome: The landmark that embodies the soul of Houston" -  analyzed the stadium's symbolism and its historic status. A panel of expert judges from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University selected all winners. The judges commented that Bivins' Astrodome column "provides history and context and connects with its local audience." The prestigious NAREE journalism competition draws entries from the leading publications in the U.S. and Europe. The awards were presented at NAREE's real estate conference in Las Vegas, which drew many journalists and top industry speakers.
