Patriot Place in St. Augustine Certified ‘Florida Green’ by Florida Green Building Coalition

AUGUSTINE, Fla . –  St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP), a nonprofit that develops affordable housing, today announced that Patriot Place has earned Gold Certification under the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) Homes Standard. “We are excited to be part of this important project. Homes for transitional veterans, built on a beautiful infill lot with an incredible live oak for them to sit and relax under,” noted FGBC President Bill Kachman. “To be involved with this project means so much knowing that Patriot Place will be able to house an at-risk or homeless veteran - after everything they have done for our country.” Patriot Place comprises six new, low-income residences to address St. Johns County’s critical need for housing for at-risk and homeless veterans. Creekside High Engineering Club Preparing Future Industry Leaders; Cultivating a Culture of Service

ST. AUGUSTINE- Kevin Davenport and the Creekside High Engineering Club are regular volunteers with the St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP). Building ramps and helping rehab homes for the elderly, Veterans and disabled is just part of their story. “Kevin is one of our biggest supporters. He has responded when a call goes out to help us fulfill our mission. He organizes and brings the Engineering Club members out in force to really make a difference in our community,” noted SJHP Executive Director Bill Lazar. Davenport has been organizing volunteer teams of students wearing shirts that say “Live Generously” to work on SJHP projects for 14 years. “The volunteer experience not only offers students firsthand experience, but also instills a culture of service that stays with many of them throughout their personal and professional lives,” noted Davenport, a teacher at Creekside in the Engineering and Environmental Science Academy. SJHP Plans to Reduce Energy Costs for Homeless Vets at Patriot Place through Solar Energy

(Real Estate Wire/Green Trends)– Local construction nonprofit St. Johns Housing Partnership plans to harness solar energy to help power its main office and three of six apartment units for homeless veterans – thus reducing financial burdens for inhabitants and promoting the use of solar energy in the community.
