Make A Difference Day Sees SJHP Volunteers Helping Their Neighbors
ST. AUGUSINE - The St. Johns Housing Partnership (SJHP) Annual Make a Difference Day was held Saturday, Oct. 24.
Over 100 volunteers converged on The Evelyn Hamblen Center for an early morning send off into the community to help paint, landscape, and build wheelchair ramps for the elderly, Veterans, or disabled in St. Johns County. The volunteers worked on seven homes throughout the day.
"It was a great day of volunteerism and service. Make a Difference Day is a day which reminds us that we all have something to give back to society and we must do so in whatever ways we can," noted St. Johns Housing Partnership Executive Director Bill Lazar.
SJHP is also grateful to The Home Depot Foundation for supporting Make a Difference Day with a generous grant for project materials and 20–30 volunteers from Team Depot, The Home Depot's associate volunteer force.
Whether through volunteering or donating, National Make a Difference Day encouraged individuals and organizations to contribute their time, resources, and skills to help their neighbors.
