ICSC Releases 2019 Back to School (BTS) Survey Results

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Back to School (BTS) Survey was conducted online July 11-14, 2019 and represented a demographically representative U.S. sample of 1,005 respondents . Here are some of the findings:                Physical stores continue to be the most popular format for BTS purchases. Nearly 87% of BTS shoppers will make purchases in physical stores, a percentage that rises to 95% including those who will purchase online from retailers that also have stores. 5 0% of adults in the U.S. will buy items for BTS this year. The top items overall are apparel (88%), school supplies (86%) and electronics (59%). Over half of the money spent on K-12 students will be for electronics and home goods. Nearly 60% of money spent on college students will be for electronics and home goods.

FGBC ‘Florida Green’ Hits Major Milestone with 20,000 Certified Projects

The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC), the leading certifier of green residential and commercial construction, land developments and local governments in the state, has surpassed the 20,000 mark with certified projects . The milestone achievement was announced during the annual Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) at the Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, Fla. “SEBC is the perfect venue to make this announcement. Florida builders and developers continue to see the value in going “Florida Green,” said FGBC executive director C.J. Davila. A home recently built at Babcock Ranch pushed the number past the 20,000 mark. Southwest Florida’s Babcock Ranch, with sustainability designed into the entire fabric of the community, is a certified FGBC Platinum Florida Green community.
