FGBC is dedicated to improving the state’s-built environment. Its mission is to lead and promote sustainability with environmental, economic, and social benefits through regional education, community outreach and certification programs.
Showing a commitment to promote a state of sustainability, FGBC launched the statewide scholarship program or students pursuing careers in green building or related sustainability disciplines.
“Congratulations to these outstanding young people. The scholarships and our dedication to education and supporting the future leaders of the industry is another program we are proud of,” noted Ralph Locke, Chairman of the FGBC Education Committee.

Founded in 2000, FGBC has over 20,000 residential, commercial, high-rise, land developments, local governments participating in its certification programs.
Unlike national and international programs such as USGBC LEED or Green Globes,, FGBC’s certifications are the only standards developed with Florida-specific criteria to address issues caused by the state’s hot-humid environment, unique topography, geology and natural disasters.
