McGarvey Residential Communities Champions Conservation, Quality of Life in Northeast Florida

Jay McGarvey PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- When St. Johns County developer Jay McGarvey offers new luxury homesites at Ponte Vedra’s Marsh Dunes II over the next year, there’s something that won’t be included. A small parcel to the north will instead be joining other acreage McGarvey donated in years past to the North Florida Land Trust. The parcel is part of the Guana River State Park wetlands, which provides critical flood protection for the area and habitat for native species. The veteran developer is not required to set this latest property donation aside as part of a wetland’s mitigation plan. He’s simply continuing a long-standing tradition of preserving what makes Florida a special place to the people who purchase homes here: its natural resources. “It’s what makes Jay a very extraordinary person. Most Americans Cite a Housing Affordability Crisis Nationwide and Close to Home

WASHINGTON - Nearly three out of four American households believe that the nation is suffering a housing affordability crisis, and a majority of respondents reported this is a problem at their local and state level as well, according to a new nationwide survey conducted on behalf of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). "These poll results confirm what builders from across the nation have been warning about -- that housing affordability is an increasingly serious problem in communities across America," said NAHB Chairman Randy Noel, a custom home builder from LaPlace, La. "A mix of regulatory barriers, ill-considered public policy and challenging market conditions is driving up costs and making it increasingly difficult for builders to produce homes that are affordable to low- and moderate-income families."
